One of many live events scuppered by the pandemic, Klarna approached us to host their Partner Day online, in a way that would enable them to truly connect with partners. To engage their guests in an exciting, sensory, and memorable way, we created a multi-room experience on a virtual event player.

The event was a resounding success and showed the true diversity of financial services marketing. Attendees called the day entertaining and insightful, giving the event a 100% Net Promoter Score, which measures the willingness of customers to recommend a company’s products or services to others.

Klarna was delighted with the results and briefed in two more virtual experiences with us.

Our strategy

Connecting with partners and senior employees in an engaging way was top of Klarna’s list of objectives for their Partner Day. We created a branded presenter’s stage, celebrity bingo, DJ sets, and a TikTok dance class. All of this required meticulous technical planning, pre-recordings, remote videos, and live streaming, using robotic, remotely operated cameras to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

To build anticipation and bridge the gap between digital and physical, we conceptualised a Klarna gift unboxing for all attendees, containing an agenda, drinks, and props for the virtual experiences, including branded sweatbands, t-shirts and face masks.

We also produced two custom sets to make the audience feel as if they were a part of something special: one for the main set, where the host interacted and engaged in real-time, and one for the entertainment segments, for stand-up comedy and bingo.

For the music segments, we arranged for Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ DJ Fast to pre-record his sets from home and streamed these as live. The TikTok dance class featured pre-recorded videos of Klarna employees doing a dance and live teaching from an established dance teacher at Pineapple Studios.

Our virtual events platform enabled guests to interact with each other through the multi-room session, with the Hello room giving guests an opportunity to get to know each other with pre-submitted introduction videos, and in real-time via the chat stream. The Celebrity Bingo was hosted as a group session, which also created a two-sided conversation between Klarna guests and celebrity host, Rob Beckett.

Summary

With 250 attendees giving Klarna a 100% Net Promoter Score and sharing their experiences across social media, the brand’s first virtual Partner Day was a big success, proven by Klarna’s repeat business with Hub.
