Care by Volvo approached automobile events specialists Rhino Events to help them run a live event to launch the new flexible car subscription service and tie in with the announcement of the parent brand Volvo’s three-year partnership sustainability deal with The Eden Project and the launch of its first electric vehicle. An in-person event was impossible because of lockdown measures and Rhino had no experience of online events. So, Rhino approached Hub to design, produce and manage a live online event, and accompanying promotional video. Volvo and Care by Volvo were thrilled with the event, which successfully launched the new service, and was well attended live and on demand, thanks to the promotional brand video and its effective dissemination. It also sparked a new partnership between Hub and Rhino Events for extraordinary live and online automobile events.

Our strategy

Hub scoped out The Eden Project to identify the core influences and mission of the environmental charity and strategise ways we could showcase this through our event.

Sustainability quickly became a core focus of how we approached the project, from creating a set from recycled materials, to offsetting our company’s carbon footprint. We also felt it was vital to show the beauty of the various ecological environments, so we featured the bounty of nature in the supporting brand video.

This design theme was replicated on the online bespoke hosting platform, to create a consistent and seamless viewer experience.

On the day, there was a live panel discussion and Q&A session, during which viewers could submit questions and request a callback from the Volvo sales team. The broadcast was live vision mixed on location, streamed seamlessly to the online audience, and available as an edited, on-demand version for those who missed it live.

Summary

Care by Volvo were delighted with the pivotal launch of their car subscription service, first electric vehicle, and partnership with The Eden Project. The live event featured impressive guest speakers, including Tim Smitt, founder of The Eden Project, and captured valuable analytics and data for Volvo to use for further promotions and marketing campaigns.
