David, Hunstone
CEO & co-founder
The rhythm created as water travels up a tree after a prolonged drought is just extraordinary. I saw this on a George Martin BBC documentray years ago and it has always stuck with me.
Kate, Paterson
Chief Operations Officer & co-founder
It’s extraordinary when things trigger the emotion we call wonder. Stopping us in our tracks, widening our eyes, suspending our breath, swelling our hearts. Socrates said ‘philosophy begins in wonder: that wonder is what leads us to try to understand our world’. Wonder could be behind our most extraordinary achievements.
Isabel, Odlin
Chief People Person
It’s extraordinary what human beings are capable of.
Karen, Woods
Strategic Development Director
I find the power of questions, extraordinary. How just asking questions and showing interest in any situation can shift a conversation, lead to life-changing learnings, find a new friend or reveal common purposes. What do you find extraordinary?
Renee, Vaughan Sutherland
Creative Director
What I never cease to find extraordinary is fungi. On earth before plants, they have in excess of 36k genders. They form symbiotic relationships with flora and fauna through vast mycorrhizal networks (way more complex than the internet). They are at the beginning and end of life - they are divine connectors.
Kate, Cotterill
Client Services Director
I find kindness is the most extraordinary human trait. Some people give it, some people take it but it is all around us and the more we give to others, the more comes back our way.
Louise, Garrod
Non-Executive Director
I am mesmerised by the moment of stepping from the real world into a suspended reality. It could be the theatre, a gig, a cinema, a book. In as little as 5 minutes you're living 'another' life in a fantasy bubble. Just extraordinary!
Paul, Philips
Non-Executive Director
The power of books is always extraordinary to me. I read about 30 a year and love the way they can take you out of your world into another time and place and other people's lives.
Jessica , Crimin
Head of Events
Its extraordinary that 25% of all western pharmaceuticals come from rainforest-based ingredients, yet less than 1% of the trees and medicinal plants in the Amazon have ever been tested by scientists.
Mert, Güneşer
Production Assistant
It's extraordinary, no-mind without consciousness is thought. Only in that way is it possible to think creatively.
Natalie, Wilsher
Production Manager
Look into our own history to find something extraordinary. It’s assumed the human race is always moving forward but this is not the case. Ancient Greek, Egyptian and later Roman civilisation were so advanced that once the Romans left Britain, the Anglo-Saxons returned to living in mud huts without sewers, water systems or stone roads. So, are we actually moving forward now? Or is the way we're living moving the human race backwards?
Sebastian, Mille
Event Manager
It's extraordinary that there are more Lego minifigures on Earth than humans!
Louise, Andersen
People Person
It is extraordinary that there are more stars in the Universe, then there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth!
Claire, Kingston
Head of New Business Dev
The power of nature is extraordinary. A walk in the woods, by the sea or just round the park can change an ordinary day into an extraordinary one. I love that.
Ursie, Downes
Lead Creative Producer
I find the power of colour truly extraordinary. From "dopamine dressing," to painting sports changing rooms pink, to the colour of the pen teachers use to mark school work. Colours have a real impact on the way we feel and behave.
Daniel, Hills
Data Manager
I find the power of sport extraordinary. The captivation, despair, and euphoria that you can go through whilst watching your favourite team. Nothing effects my mood more! It has given me moments to treasure for a life time!
Chengwang, Liu
Studio Operator
I find it extraordinary that kids pick up everything from adults so we need to be way in front of them
Jak, Norwood
Senior Producer
It’s extraordinary there are more stars in the Universe than grains of sand on Earth and when we look up at them, we are essentially looking back in time, as light travels at a finite speed.
Ben, Mehmet
Assistant editor
At Any Given Moment, There Are Approximately 2,000 Thunderstorms Happening on Earth. Extraordinary.
Rodrigo Valladares, Santana
Web Developer
I find it extraordinary that there are living organisms that live in extreme environments, such as bacteria that live inside volcanoes. If we found living beings in those extreme conditions, would we find life on other planets?
Adrienne, Bhola
Account Manager
The human brain is extraordinary - it has the power to be your best friend, your support system and life's motivator, but can also be your biggest enemy at times. Mindfulness is essential to be able to control something so extraordinary.
Shawn, Chen
PR Specialist
It's extraordinary to connect with people. No man is an island.
Amarat, Sehgal
Producer
I find the brain of a dog extraordinary! Dogs can learn over 100 words and gestures, which puts their intelligence and understanding of us on a par with a two year old child. Like us humans, dogs have a preferred (hand) paw to lead with too. You can find out whether your dog is left or right-pawed by giving them their favourite toy and seeing which paw they use to help them first.
Ally, Cavendish
Production Assistant
You know what's extraordinary? The fact the ocean is so vast that literally, anything could be living at the bottom of it, and we might never find out. Could be mermen or Nessie or a see-through whale. There's just no way to tell.
James, Harverson
Technical Director
I find it extraordinary that people who use futureless languages are more likely to save for the future and make healthier choices.
Leah &, Blue
Comms & Content Creators
It's extraordinary that elephants find humans cute the way we find dogs cute. Also, double rainbows.
Leigh, Dippenaar
Producer
Riding waves with a seal next to a cliff off the coast of Plettenberg Bay (South Africa) where there was a shipwreck underneath the water. Now that was extraordinary.
Rina, Cheung
Senior Graphic Designer
I find the simplicity of breath quite extraordinary. The breath is with us from birth to our last day on earth. An unsung hero that supports our body to function, the one that gives us the much-needed sense of relief in the moment of stress; the one that creates inner space so vast in seconds; that one breath that has the potential to change your perspective of the world.
Melody, Allouche
Production Manager
I find plant life extraordinary: how an entire tree can grow from a seed, how you can propagate a plant seemingly infinitely just by cutting a tiny piece of its end. I find it extraordinary how you can give a plant some vitamins and water and it will grow by literally pulling its ingredients out of thin air.
Harriet, Botwright
Account Manager
I find it extraordinary how small the world really is. I could be climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro and still bump into my friend's ex-boyfriend's brother per se. This is why I love travelling and meeting new people because there is this connection that ties all of us together.
Sully, Zamuner
Senior Account Manager
Yoga has changed my life and an extraordinary year spent living in India has made me appreciate how little we need to be happy
Nicholas, Gumpo
Technical Operator
I find it extraordinary that we need plants to breathe but yet in particular seasons (summer) the same plants kill us with hayfever! Now I can't breathe.
Charlie, Hubbard
Finance Manager
I find the ever-expanding size of the universe, with its billions of galaxies full of billions of stars, mind-blowing. The infinite possibilities and how much is left to be explored is extraordinary.
Kevin, Collett
Senior Editor
Travel is extraordinary to me. To visit, explore, taste, sense, smell and feel different cultures and ways of life that differ from your own has an almost magical sense about it. As someone who has been fortunate enough to live on a different continent for many years, it’s something that I value highly.
