Gastro Learning, a leading educational provider, has been running Live Endoscopy courses for over 20 years. For the second time, they approached Hub to produce their two-day annual conference, London Live Endoscopy (LLE).
This live virtual event took place in London and featured pre-recorded cases, live demonstrations and live panel discussions with expert faculties both in person and remotely.
The Hub team initially scoped out the project with a site visit to the London University College Hospital. We scouted the location, checking network connectivity, power infrastructures and site regulations. We then planned the set build, crew requirements, filming requirements and logistics to produce two branded studios.
To ensure the event was consistently branded, Hub designed the set on location and the online branded graphics in line with the event theme and Gastro Learning branding guidelines. The live set was then created using a sustainable and reusable staging framework.
The live event took place over two days. There were 21 faculties involved with some speakers on set and others joining remotely from around the world. Featuring panel discussions, presentations, 64 pre-recorded cases alongside live demonstrations of complex surgical equipment.
The live broadcast was live vision-mixed on location with 6 remote cameras across two studios and streamed seamlessly to the online audience in real-time via YouTube. In total we streamed for 16 hours, this was a fast-paced project with a demanding schedule that needed flexibility to accommodate last-minute updates to scheduling and content throughout the event. Thanks to the efficiency and skills of our production team, this was managed smoothly and professionally. Post broadcast, Hub edited an on-demand version that was available for all those that missed the live event.
The live event was a resounding success – the feedback was overwhelmingly positive from both the client and the viewers. There were over 3,200 live views in total from around the world, across the two days. Post-broadcast, the on-demand video was also successful with additional views hitting almost 2k in the first two weeks across both days.
